Covered Bridges

Covered bridges...over a 100 years of tested time and often know as the Kissing Bridges.
Even though covered bridges are sometimes called the Kissing Bridges...the real reason for the covering is to protect the bridge.

Pennsylvania is often recognized as the
birthplaceof covered bridges.
They are wonderful historical remnants of a
time when life wasn’t so fast paced.
One of the reasons covered bridges were no longer built was because of the railroads. Stronger bridges had to be built to carry the weight of the heavy trains.
